SERVING HER CITY: New Folsom Vice Mayor talks life in Folsom

Folsom’s newest Vice Mayor Sarah Aquino is excited about the next four years of her term and is ready to get to work. The Telegraph sat down with Aquino to get to know her a little better.

A 15-year Folsom resident, politics somewhat run in Aquino’s family, as her late father, Dave Cox, served in elected office in California for 22 years, including the SMUD Board, Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, the Assembly and Senate.

When asked if her father’s political history influenced her in any way, she said yes.

“I think my dad was a really good example of what an elected official should be,” she said. “Ever since I was a kid, if you asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would have told you the President of the United States.”

Aquino, 46, recently finished a four-year term on the Folsom Cordova Unified School District Board, right before taking her seat at the City Council’s dais.

During her election campaign, one thing Aquino wanted to implement was a handbook each council member would serve by.
